# Introduction

First, we would thank you for your interest in AlpineFlow. This document will now explain you how to download AlpineFlow, how to compile it according to your needs and how to find your way in its code and documentation.
|

# Getting AlpineFlow
|
|
|
|
|
|
There are two ways to get AlpineFlow:
|
|
|
|
|
|
* as source package, to recompile for your platform;
|
|
|
* as SVN working copy (checkout).
|
|
|
|
|
|
Please follow the [instructions](https://models.slf.ch/p/meteoio/page/Getting-MeteoIO/) as given for MeteoIO, simply replacing "meteoio" by "alpineflow".

|
|
|
|
# Compiling AlpineFlow on Linux/Unix based systems
|
|
|
|
|
|
* open a terminal and change into the trunk folder of alpineflow
|
|
|
* "make"
|
|
|
* if the compilation succeeds, you will find the "alpineflow" binary in "./bin" of your AlpineFlow folder
|
|
|
|
|
|
# Running a simulation
